SketchUp Free of Pro
Wanneer kies je voor de betaalde Pro-versie van SketchUp?
Deze vraag is natuurlijk niet universeel te beantwoorden. Toen ik met SketchUp begon was er trouwens geen gratis versie. Na de overname door Google in 2006 kwam er wel een gratis versie en ongetwijfeld heeft dit bijgedragen aan het enorme succes.
Voor mij zijn het gebruik van Layout, het aanvullende 2D-presentatieprogramma en de betere export- en importmogelijkheden de belangrijkste redenen om voor SketchUp Pro te kiezen.
Maak je veel gebruik van andere CAD-programma's in combinatie met SketchUp, dan is de DWG/DXF export/import-functie van Pro echt heel nuttig.
Wil je met SketchUp goede presentaties of werktekeningen maken, dan is Pro (samen met Layout) een goede keuze. Zelf heb ik nooit getwijfeld over de Pro-versie en binnenkort kun je van mij ook een beginnerscursus SketchUp Layout verwachten.
De Amerikaanse architect Nick Sonder heeft zichzelf een prachtige werkmethode aangeleerd met SketchUp en Layout.
Op de site van Trimble Sketchup vindt je een goede vergelijkingsmatrix .
Maar als ik je dan toch een advies mag geven: stel jezelf de vraag of je het tekenwerk dat je nu met de gratis versie maakt, nog verder zou willen bewerken, presenteren of exporteren.
Dan is dat je antwoord.

Don't I know it, Kay!! I know what you went through. And half of my dadlnoowed stuff no longer shows up in the Chief library browser (although mysteriously, it's still there if you know what terms to search for). I'm not sure I'll be able to import my current library into X4. But I have heard that they've made improvements to the library in X4.
